Description
The Wildlands League, a non-profit organization and
a Toronto based chapter of the Canadian Parks and
Wilderness Society, specializes in establishing new
protected areas in Ontarios wilderness, monitoring and
influencing the management of established parks, and in
ensuring the maintenance of ecosystem integrity of public
land through the promotion of more environmentally
sustainable practices.
Job Description:
We are looking for a dynamic individual who can continue
our strong leadership in these areas, expand our influence,
and contribute to the establishment of more and better
protected wilderness areas.
Necessary Skills & Qualifications:
Candidates must:
- Have experience in advocacy and government policy
(preferably environmental) - Demonstrate a sincere interest in conservation work
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to both enable their own team while forging
links with other organizations and stakeholders - Experience with First Nations people, strategic planning,
campaign design and management - Demonstrated success with grant proposals, and financial
and personnel management skills - Solid background in conservation science or forest ecology
Other Assets Include
Education: Graduate degree in relevant field or at least five
years practical experience.
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Location: The Executive Director will work out of Toronto
but must be willing to travel
