Description
Background:
An Executive Director is sought for the Alaska Wildlife Alliance, a non-profit
organization with approximately 1200 members, based in Anchorage, Alaska.
The mission of the Alaska Wildlife Alliance is the protection of Alaska's wildlife
for its intrinsic value as well as for the benefit of present and future generations.
The Alliance is especially recognized for championing the cause of wolves and
other predators, and advocates an ecosystem approach that accounts for the
non-consumptive values of wildlife.
Duties:
Work under the general direction of the Board of Directors to implement a
long-range strategic plan which includes strong advocacy on behalf of the states
wildlife, development of state-wide watchable wildlife and education programs;
coordination of efforts with other environmental organizations and interest groups;
directing the administrative function of the organization.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated leadership with respect to advocacy, project development and
program delivery; political and strategic planning skills a must; experience in fund
raising and grant solicitation; ability to motivate/supervise staff, coordinate
research goals and increase volunteer support; writing/speaking and people skills
essential as is ability to work under pressure.
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with qualifications/experience; benefits are included.
