Description
Nanosolar is a leading manufacturer of cost-efficient thin film solar cells and panels.
We utilize an ‘industrial' printing process to coat CIGS (Copper, Indium, Gallium, Selenium) and nanoparticle inks on low-cost aluminum foil in order to enable the world's thinnest solar cells and lowest-cost solar panels.
Be the project owner for a variety of manufacturing systems.
Position Overview:
This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing new equipment in our solar cell factory in San Jose and its planned expansions. This is a great opportunity to work with a multifunctional team facing a variety of engineering challenges. This individual will develop new equipment by building in-house prototypes to prove concepts, and improve existing equipment by designing modifications together with external vendors. Additionally, this candidate will guide/manage industrial partners to build manufacturing scale tools per Nanosolar specification.
Hands-on engineering skill is required. Knowledge of Web transport systems, slitting, sheeting, printing is desired. Knowledge of industrial control systems, PLCs, motion control systems, temperature control systems, vision systems is desired.
Individual will be the project owner for a variety of manufacturing systems, and will be required to evaluate their performance and determine appropriate upgrades without guidance.

Job Requirements:
- Develop, build, and implement new and advanced production equipment
- Improve the repeatability and reliability of the equipment
- Constantly study and evaluate the equipment performance and its process capability
- Maintain records of equipment performance, failures, upgrades and safety issues
- Establish programs and implement solutions to increase the capability and repeatability, improve uptime, reduce scraps and cost of ownership.
- Provide technical support to production team for equipment repairs
- Define and write preventive maintenance procedures
- Project planning and execution
- Data Analysis / Computer Skills
- Excelent hands-on ability
- Problem solving, logical thinking, and root cause analysis capability
- Troubleshoot, find root cause and document failures in the equipment.
- Fluent in SolidWorks
- Familiarity with industrial controls (PLC and PC based) and ability to perform basic troubleshooting
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Engineering studies, 5yr industrial experience minimum
- Effective team player including communicating with customers, peers and vendors
- High energy level, self motivated
