Environmental Specialist

The City of Gaithersburg, MD is seeking applicants for the position of Environmental Specialist to assist in planning, managing, and implementing environmental programs and policies.

Responsibilities Include:

• Reviewing natural resource/environmental inventories, plans, and waivers;
• Implementing environmental education programs;
• Ensuring City compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.

Job Requirements:

• Must have excellent oral and written presentation skills and general knowledge of the principles and practices of environmental and stormwater management, forest conservation, wetland delineations, stream restoration and monitoring, plant identification, and green building.
• Requires a bachelor's degree with major course work in environmental or natural sciences, natural resource management, ecology or closely related field, and some professional experience in environmental management.
• Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) required; knowledge of GIS and GPS preferred.
• Attendance at some night meetings required.

About the Job:

Salary range: $41,149 to $62,956; hiring salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Excellent benefits package.
