Environmental Response Scientist

Position Overview

Cardno is seeking an Environmental Response Scientist in our Newark, DE office.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Responding to oil or chemical spills
• Leading or directing field teams
• Coordinating sampling efforts
• Conducting SCAT surveys and team leading efforts
• Interfacing with clients and regulators

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field
• 5-7 years' experience
• Must have experience responding to oil or chemical spills related to pipeline, marine or shoreline spills
• Must have hands on experience primarily supporting the environmental response to oil spills
• Must have experience leading or directing field teams, coordinating and developing sampling plans, leading sampling efforts, QA/QC for reports, and coordinating/leading SCAT teams and surveys
• Project management experience is a plus
• Must have experience interfacing with clients and regulators
• Must be proficient in MS Office Suite
• Must be proficient with sampling equipment
• Travel required, 1-2 week rotations

Desired Qualifications:

• GIS experience is a plus
• Trajectory modeling experience is a plus
• Experience writing reports such as summary reports, situation reports or sampling plans is a plus
• Familiarity with regulations related to oil spill contingency planning and response such as OPA is a plus
• OSHA HAZWOPER, TWIC Card preferred
• Experience with Incident Command System (ICS) is a plus
