The Northeast-Midwest Institute is looking for a research assistant to focus on several water quality issues, including invasive species and Great Lakes restoration initiatives.
The staffer would assist two policy analysts and a senior policy analyst engaged in a variety of projects associated with invasive species, contaminated sediment cleanup, economic valuation of environmental benefits, and Great Lakes water management and restoration projects. The research assistant will conduct policy research, organize efforts of invasive-species scientists and engineers, and arrange logistics associated with a team of environmental economists. The research assistant will be supervised by a senior policy analyst. She or he also will be part of an ecosystem team that focuses on several environmental quality issues and that works closely with bipartisan task forces of House and Senate members.
Applicants should have background in biology and an interest in public policy. Also needed are demonstrated organizational and writing skills, as well as the ability to work well with diverse interest groups.

The research assistant's annual salary will be approximately $30,000, depending upon experience. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.
