Job Description

Foresite seeks an Environmental Regulation Consultant to research worldwide environmental legislation, to analyze and crystallize the most significant aspects for supporting clients in consulting projects, and to design analytical templates/business processes for major corporations seeking to comply with international regulations.

The rapid proliferation of worldwide environmental legislation with substance control directives such as RoHS and REACH and the new initiatives in Sustainability and Carbon Management, and Conflict Minerals leads us to create a position for an Environmental Regulation Consultant based out of our Campbell, California office location.

Your main role will be to research worldwide environmental legislation, and to analyze and crystallize the most significant aspects for supporting clients in consulting projects and designing business processes for implementation across a broad array of international organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the creation and maintenance of high quality regulatory database and auditable regulatory compliance documentation for Fortune 500 companies. 
  • Work as an effective team member supporting internal and external Environmental Attorneys, Vice Presidents of Sustainability, Environmental Health and Safety Managers, Regulatory Compliance Officers, and corporate-level personnel.
  • Engage legal frameworks and regulatory guidance documents to formulate expert opinions when queries or requests for assistance from countries/regions cannot be resolved with availableknowledge.
  • Maintain and develop personal capability and knowledge in areas of technical expertise in order to participate in Global Environmental Management Software development.
  • Respond swiftly and accurately to internal questions related to regulatory compliance concerns, legal/ technical obligations, and formulating responses to customer requests for compliance consulting services.

Qualifications:

  • You have an expert understanding and experience of the current WEEE, Packaging, and Battery fee charging directives.
  • Extensive experience tracking and interpreting global RoHS and REACH regulations is a prerequisite.
  • You are able to effectively communicate and document how international extended producer responsibility and substance control directives impact companies working predominately in the electronics and healthcare sectors.
  • You will have a strong aptitude for software and you will liaise with our development team to ensure our applications support the environmental needs of our current and potential customers.
  • You will have a graduate degree in a relevant discipline, with exceptional written, oral presentation and communication skills or a bachelor degree with at least 5 years of directly applicable experience.
  • This position will suit a diligent, detail oriented professional with a strong aptitude for developing innovative solutions for complex challenges.
  • Experience with European languages, French, German, etc., is preferred.
