Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Facilities, this position is responsible for the overall management of departmental and corporate compliance regarding Safety and GreenPath initiatives, applicable codes and regulations including but not limited to Life Safety, NFPA, OSHA, Workers Comp, NEPA, ISO 14001, NPS contract requirements, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and others at Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park operations.
This position is located in Kings Canyon National Park, approximately 1 hour from Fresno. The John Muir Lodge offers 34 year round lodging rooms and Grant Grove Cabins offer a seasonal rustic experience. Operations at the Grant Grove Village include a gift shop, market center, espresso bar, full service restaurant and seasonal pizza parlor.
Responsibilities
- Administer safety trainings, track and compile training records and unit inspections.
- Adminstration and implementation of Risk Management & Safety: Applicable codes and regulations including but not limited to Life Safety, fire systems, NFPA, OSHA, Workers Comp and others.
- Train management and staff.
- Follow up on safety work orders and fire system vendor repairs and inspections.
- Manage and coordinate environmental programs: Pollution prevention/solid waste reduction, waste management, energy and water conservation, greenhouse gas emissions, wildlife, messaging and communications related to GreenPath to reduce impacts.
- Identify and maintain compliance with all applicable policies, legal, and contractual requirements such as ISO 14001, NEPA, NHPA, OSHA, NPS 1998 Concessions Management Act, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and others.
- Using the NPS Interpretive Themes, develop an Interpretive Plan that includes information, orientation, and interpretation using personal and non-personal methods for delivery and encompasses all areas of the operation.
- Manage and coordinate the interpretive program according to NPS contractual requirements and standards.
- Provide assistance and/or supervision in interpretive projects involving NPS, Park Partners and gateway communities.
- Measure, analyze, report, and communicate data/information about environmental performance and effectiveness.
- Prepare and participate in ISO and internal audits, NPS and county official inspections.
- Follow up and correct noncomformances.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- Valid Drivers License.
- OSHA ten hour certificate preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in safety, risk management.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
- Familiarity with environmental management systems.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work closely with other departments.
- Proven ability to supervise others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to train others.
- Strong analytical & problem solving skills.
