Position Overview:

The Environmental Law Advisor works closely with the Assistant Dean for Career Development and the staff of the Center for Career Development and the Public Interest Law Center as well as the Assistant Dean of Environmental Law Programs, Center for Environmental Legal Studies. 

Responsibilities: 

The Environmental Law Advisor is independently responsible for the following duties:

1. Counsel students (1Ls, 2Ls, 3Ls, day and evening and LL.M.s and alumni) interested in environmental law (public or private sector, and including climate change, energy and land use).
2. Maintain records on students regarding counseling efforts and job placement on Center's electronic database; maintain database of environmental alumni.
3. Develop, schedule, plan and oversee career panels and programs each academic year in consultation with the Assistant Dean.
4. Create and maintain content for environmental section of website and coordinate environmental law career opportunities and events.
5. Serve as liaison with the Center for Environmental Legal Studies, the Land Use Law Center and the Energy and Climate Center and with student groups, particularly the Environmental Law Society and the Environmental Law Journal; collaborate on or assist in arranging groups' and centers' programming and attend functions.
6. Serve as liaison with local bar associations, including serving on committees and attending meetings and functions, as approved by Assistant Dean.
7. Attend legal conferences (NALP), professional functions, alumni functions, training programs and recruitment meetings as requested by Assistant Dean.

Qualifications: 

Qualifications include a Juris Doctor degree and a minimum of 2-3 years of experience with an environmental law-related employer (public or private).
