Position Overview: 

American Water is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Environmental Engineer. This position provides research for development and application of distribution system hydraulic models, pressure management, and quantitative risk models.

Qualifications: 

Demonstrated project management skills (e.g., planning, organizing, coordination); Good analytical and research skills; Ability to work independently on projects of large scope; Demonstrated quantitative and analytical skills; attention to detail; Good verbal and written communications skills (e.g., report writing, listening, and presentation); good interpersonal skills (e.g., coordination with external and AW operating company personnel; tact/diplomacy, persuasion, team building, cooperation, ability to motivate others).

Proven leadership experience.  Ability to work on various assignments. Computer literacy.  Competent in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, flow-charting, process modeling, with sound information technology and systems analysis knowledge. Ph.D. (or Masters with additional experience) in environmental engineering with experience in hydraulic model applications, research and utility operations. Research experience necessary.  Presentations and publications. (4 years minimum) Professional accreditation desirable.

Knowledge of environmental regulations, new technologies, and operations related to treatment facilities. Knowledge of water utility procedures, policies and operations.
