Description
Occupational Knowledge International is a nonprofit organization working to build capacity in developing countries to reduce industrial pollution and protect public health. We are dedicated to the reduction of lead poisoning through the development of innovative programs, education and outreach.
Position:
We are in need of an Environmental Certification Program Coordinator to become part of an international team launching the Better Environmental Sustainability Targets (BEST) Certification Program for lead battery manufacturers. This is a new position to oversee the completion of the standard and to manage the accreditation of auditors in compliance with ISO and ISEAL guidance.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in the development of an environmental audit protocol;
- Oversight of certification bodies and evaluation;
- Review and approve applicants for accreditation;
- Complete development and implementation of procedures for the BEST Standard;
- Develop course curriculum for environmental auditor accreditation;
- Conducting outreach and training programs;
- Manage complaint system for accredited certification bodies; and
- Organize and staff accreditation evaluations.
Required Experience:
- Two or more years in environmental auditing, management, consulting or related field;
- ISO 14001 auditor training and experience;
Additional Experience Desired:
- International experience, ideally in developing countries;
- Experience working with large industries;
Education:
University degree and ISO 14000 auditor training required. Relevant graduate degree desired.
Additional Requirement:
Work related travel (variable up to 20% per year) for up to two weeks at a time to domestic and international destinations.
Compensation:
Commensurate with experience.
