EDPR Europe, headquartered in Madrid, manages assets located in the European Union, and other Regions renewable energy assets of the EDP Group and EDPR North America, headquartered in Houston, manages assets in the United States and Canada.
Position Overview
The environmental associate will support the environmental team with ensuring that the environmental permitting of EDPR NA's projects meets corporate standards and pertinent regulatory requirements. The environmental associate will also be responsible for managing and tracking environmental data and environmental obligations to ensure compliance.
Responsibilities
Main Accountabilities:
- Assists environmental team with the environmental permitting of EDPR's projects from planning phases through implementation
- Assists environmental team with review of environmental studies and reports, NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) and state environmental documents, including EISs, EAs, and other federal, state, and local environmental permits, as needed
- Manages implementation of the Wildlife Incident Reporting System
- Assists environmental team with responses to internal environmental-related inquiries in support of Power Purchase Agreement bids, project financing, and third-party due diligence
- Prepares and manages tracking tools for environmental data and environmental permit obligations
- Assists with implementation of EDPR's Environmental Management System
- Assists environmental team with the preparation and management of Bird and Bat Conservation Plans
- Assists with development of scopes of work for procurement of environmental services
- Assists with other procurement activities, such as contracting and processing invoices
- Additional duties as required
Qualifications
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; Master's degree preferred
- At least one year of work experience in a related field, experience in the renewable energy industry preferred
Other Requirements:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including first-rate drafting and editing abilities
- Ability to quickly gain working knowledge of key and emerging issues in wind energy siting, permitting, and compliance
- Ability to manage a diverse workload requiring a strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Proficient in GIS
