Position Overview
Engineer/Scientist I requires both a fundamental understanding of technical concepts and experience in their application. Knowledge equivalent to that obtained with a Bachelor's degree in the field directly related to the work performed and a minimum of one-year experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Provides project technical support for UCOR on the Water Resources Restoration Program (WRRP) and Oak Ridge Reservation Groundwater Program.
- Provide support for identification of sampling and analysis requirements and evaluation and reporting of sampling and analysis results.
- Provide support for CERCLA, RCRA, and project documentation preparation and review, such as Sampling and Analysis Plans (SAPs), applicable or relevant and appropriate requirements (ARARs), and RCRA post-closure permit reports.
- Provide support for interface to both Regulatory agencies and Department of Energy.
- Prepare presentation material and present project information related to the WRRP and the ORR Groundwater Program.
- Support evaluation, tracking, and documentation of monitoring and other long-term stewardship requirements.
- Provide technical support to the ORR Groundwater Program and interface with UCOR's subcontractor for groundwater modeling and conceptual site model development.
- Support implementation of the Off-site Groundwater Assessment and other selected projects under the WRRP and ORR Groundwater Program, including interfacing with sampling and analytical laboratory personnel and support subcontractors, performing computer-related activities, and resolving technical issues.
- Provide technical support for monitoring and reporting under RCRA post-closure permits. including coordinating activities and requirements with the WRRP SAP Coordinator, performing technical reviews of reports prepared by UCOR's subcontractor, resolving technical issues, determining actions required, and transmitting final reports.
- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience on a government site working with Regulatory agencies.
- Experience and understanding of environmental regulatory requirements, including CERCLA and RCRA regulations and the CERCLA decision-making process.
- Experience in preparation and review of documents to meet reporting requirements.
- Ability to work in a team environment, manage multiple tasks, define scope and work objectives, determine approach and level of effort.
- Microsoft Office computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
- Practical work experience to the degree necessary to perform the responsibilities outlined above.
