Position Overview  

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Energy Engineer to join our team in West Hartford, CT. You will work with the Sustainability VP, Legrand NA Corporate Energy Manager, and Site Energy Managers to identify, evaluate and support deployment of cost-effective energy management initiatives to drive environmental improvement and operational excellence across Legrand North America.

The Energy Engineer will bring a passion for energy efficiency, strong technical and analytical competence, and excellent project management skills to achieving the company's energy intensity reduction goals. 

Responsibilities 

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with energy site managers to help them implement energy management practices and meet comprehensive energy efficiency goals.
  • Support energy efficiency opportunity identification, calculation, implementation, measurement and verification process.
  • Perform scoping level calculations to verify feasibility of a potential energy saving opportunities.
  • Based on the analysis of energy use and consumption, identify the areas of significant energy use, i.e. identify the facilities, equipment, systems, processes and personnel working for, or on behalf of, the organization that significantly affect energy use and consumption; identify other relevant variables affecting significant energy uses; determine the current energy performance of facilities, equipment, systems and processes related to identified significant energy uses; estimate future energy use and consumption.
  • Provide project management support as needed on corporate-wide or site specific initiatives, including sub metering and related analytical and communication tools.
  • Write technical reports that summarize results from energy assessments, recommended energy saving opportunities, calculated associated savings, and estimated incentives.
  • Assist in the development of internal and external reporting. 
  • Actively participate in business development initiatives. Support analysis to identify opportunities for new business and growth of existing service offerings.
  • Support the Corporate Energy Manager in development and implementation of a plan that is consistent with the Corporate Energy Policy and that shall lead to activities that continually improve energy performance.
  • This position does include travel in range of 6-10 trips a year to evaluate conditions at LNA sites and work with energy managers.
  • Perform other duties as required. 

Qualifications 

Education: 

  • Bachelor's in Engineering.
  • Certification in Energy Management. 

Experience: 

  • Minimum 4 years in a manufacturing environment. 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities. 
  • Able to evaluate situations, identify options and implement effective solutions quickly and efficiently. 
  • Must have strong verbal, presentation and written communications skills and be able to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional computer and software skills: PowerPoint, Excel, Word; proficiency with various e-mail, calendaring, meeting management and related communications software.
  • Expertise in various modeling techniques.
  • Understanding of HVAC, lighting and other building systems and energy efficiency concepts.
  • Passion for energy efficiency and clean energy technology.
  • Knowledge of energy modeling/simulation tools.
