Position Overview

We are seeking an outstanding Energy Efficiency/Renewable Energy Engineer/Scientist to be part of a multi-million dollar energy efficiency/renewable energy program. The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas: manufacturing and other industrial technologies, building energy efficiency, low-income weatherization, fuel cells, vehicle technologies, bioenergy, solar energy, geothermal energy, wind energy, hydroelectric energy.

Responsibilities

  • Leads scientific, engineering or other technical efforts and supervises staff participating in such efforts.
  • Provides scientific, engineering, technical, and managerial direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development and implementation for complex systems in the scientific, engineering or technical disciplines or fields required to meet technical requirements.
  • Makes recommendations and advises on system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts.
  • Performs risk assessments and analysis employing modeling and simulation techniques. 

Qualifications 

Required Background:  

  • PhD in a scientific, engineering or other technical field.
  • 6+ years of experience in a scientific, engineering, or other technical field such as biology, chemistry, earth sciences, physics, mathematics, or health sciences and/or civil, chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
  • 6+ years leading scientific, engineering or other technical efforts and supervising staff involved with the application of scientific, engineering or other technical disciplines or fields.
  • Experience in one or more of the following technology areas: manufacturing and other industrial technologies, building energy efficiency, low-income weatherization, fuel cells, vehicle technologies, bioenergy, solar energy, geothermal energy, wind energy, hydroelectric energy. 

Preferred Skills/Experience: 

  • Consulting experience with Department of Energy, Federal Energy and Regulatory Commission, or Environmental Protection Agency.

Professional Skills: 

  • Outstanding analytical, writing, and communication skills and excellent interpersonal and management skills are required.
  • Excellent problem solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems, and recommend solutions.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including a talent for collaborating on team efforts under deadlines.
  • Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information.
  • Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
