David Evans and Associates, Inc. is currently seeking an Energy Efficiency Engineer to join our onsite project team for our client in Spokane, WA.
The Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) vision is to be an engine of the Northwest's economic prosperity and environmental sustainability. BPA Energy Efficiency advances the efficient use of energy throughout the Pacific Northwest by working with utility customers, trade allies, industry, and other partners. The 6th Power Plan identifies energy efficiency will meet 85% of 20 year load growth in Northwest one of the most aggressive regional targets in the nation. This will deepen an energy efficiency resource that already accounts for 12% of the region's energy resource.
Responsibilities:
Position Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- This position serves as a project engineer and highly knowledgeable technical specialist in the area of energy efficiency.
- This person will work on BPA's conservation service teams and be expected to deliver high value technical and customer support to BPA utility customers and BPA programs. They will be charged with developing and implementing energy efficiency projects, creating new measure offerings, performing measurement and verification and providing technical oversight.
- They will be part of a team advancing BPA's energy efficiency offering for commercial buildings, HVAC technologies, building controls and refrigeration in both new construction and retrofits.
- Other duties as assigned
This engineering position will support BPA and our customers in meeting the 6th Power Plan targets out of the Spokane, WA office. Travel requirements: 15-30%, primarily in eastern OR, eastern WA and western ID.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering required. Mechanical preferred. Electrical, process/industrial degrees or related technical degree will be considered.
- 3-6 years in energy efficiency engineering required. 6+ years and PE license preferred.
- Note: This position has not been approved for offsite work.
General Skill Requirements:
- Proven ability to design, model and analyze mechanical systems.
- Proven ability to analyze systems and process with heat transfer, fluid dynamic and thermodynamic principals for energy efficiency improvements.
- Experience with design and commissioning of commercial & industrial HVAC&R systems for energy efficiency.
- Experience with energy savings calculations, energy models (i.e. DOE 2.2) and data analysis methodologies.
- Must have proven project management skills
- Must be self-motivated, self- disciplined and independently problem solve technical issues.
- Must be a motivated self-checker and have good written and oral communication skills.
Additional Requirements:
- Possess a Valid State Drivers License
- Possess appropriate footwear during travel, ASTM F2413-05, Class 75 EH rated footwear with over the ankle lace up and rigid sole and heel.
- Additional training and/or training conference participation on new tools and/or systems may be required in order to fulfill incumbent's duty and is a requirement of the position.
