New Ecology, Inc. is an innovative, nationally-recognized non-profit corporation that provides energy efficiency, green building and other services to community-based organizations to promote sustainable development.
Position Overview:
New Ecology is seeking candidates for the position of Energy/Asset Manager. The Manager works on behalf of 6 community development corporations in metro-Boston to identify finance and implement energy efficiency improvements in their portfolios of multi-family affordable housing.
Responsibilities:
The duties of the Energy Asset Manager include, but are not limited to:
- maintain and monitor monthly water and energy performance data for all buildings;
- benchmark the performance of all buildings against one another and other buildings;
- arrange for and oversee building audits and other outside consultant services, and ensure CDC's understand the results;
- identify buildings that would be good candidates for incorporating renewable energy sources;
- gather and analyze all available financial information for each project to determine where reserves, operational savings or other sources of funds might be applied to implement identified conservation strategies;
- develop overall implementation strategy, based on audit recommendations, and determine the potential for financing the work and other factors within CDC organization;
- submit applications to the LEAN Low-Income Multi-family Energy Retrofit program and other utility programs;
- apply for government and foundation support;
- oversee implementation of all strategies, including drafting specifications, soliciting and evaluating bids, coordinating trades, overseeing/checking work during and after, and maintaining schedule and budget;
- monitor building performance data to evaluate impact of any work done and the return on investment;
- work with others to determine operations staff and tenant education needs for all measures implemented;
- participate in/present at regular meetings;
- submit monthly progress reports.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, results-oriented, and a team player. The candidate should have a sound technical knowledge of building systems and operations, experience in project management, coordination and implementation, and experience in conducting relevant financial analysis and developing financing plans.
The candidate should also possess strong customer communication skills. The candidate should be prepared for increased responsibility in a rapidly growing company and should be motivated to help build this aspect of New Ecology's services.
The applicant's experience and qualifications should include:
- experience managing multiple projects;
- experience in gathering and interpreting detailed financial information on buildings and projects, and using that information to devise ways to finance work to be done;
- technical competence in understanding specifications and plans;
- ability to communicate clearly both orally (presentations) and in writing ;
- experience in one or more of the following fields - building science, multi-family property management, energy management, engineering related to buildings/building systems
- a graduate degree or equivalent experience.
