Position Overview:
Apex is seeking an Energy Analyst to assess energy resource potential and design renewable energy facilities. The energy analyst position reports to the Energy Assessment manager supporting and providing service to multiple departments within the company. The Energy Analyst is responsible for the execution of various technical tasks critical to the development, construction, and operation of wind power generating facilities. This position further provides many, challenging, critical thinking and problem solving opportunities that contribute to development strategy and business operations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare energy analysis for projects at various stages of development.
- Review, revise, and approve analysis products from other internal staff and external contractors, as well as support general due diligence of potential acquisition opportunities.
- Support greenfield development with research and modeling activities leading to feasibility and sensitivity analyses for prospect projects.
- Support and consult project developers, operations personnel, and construction staff within and outside of the company and assist with various tasks as needed.
- Review and prepare equipment recommendations and suitability information for various renewable energy projects.
- Design high quality measurement, monitoring, and testing platforms to prove analysis and reduce uncertainty.
- Manage datasets from meteorological monitoring systems, including met towers.
- Implement effective project management strategy for all analysis tasks within and outside the energy assessment group.
- Provide technical and non technical employees with training, guidance, and explanation pertaining to the development, construction, marketing, and operation of wind energy projects.
- Exercise company safety and quality policies in all tasks performed and supervised.
- Design and develop software, analytical tools, and methods to aid management and analysis of meteorological and energy production data.
- Other activities as required to support company objectives.
Qualifications:
Requirements
- B.S. (Advanced degree preferred) in engineering, meteorology, geography, physical or earth science, or education and experience appropriate to expectation.
- 1-3 years experience with wind/solar (or other renewable) energy analysis, 5 years experience in a technical / scientific / engineering field.
- Expert knowledge of methodologies and tools used in the assessment of renewable energy projects.
- Must hold or be eligible for US passport.
- Must be able to work in a field or outdoor environment (limited).
- Must possess valid driver's license.
- Strong (written and oral) communication skills are required.
- Must be available to travel 25-50% of the time and be able to work from remote locations via phone or video conference.
- Must have working software knowledge of MS suite including Access; preferred familiarity with statistical/mathematical analysis applications, CAD, GIS/mapping/GIS, project management, Adobe, and computational modeling (CFD and other fluids/aerospace modeling) and/or wind energy analysis software.
Compensation:
- Base, bonus and equity compensation commensurate with experience, with future growth opportunities.
