First Community Housing is a non-profit developer of eco-friendly, affordable housing in San Jos, California, with a growing reputation for green building. FCH has recently won awards such as a Flex Your Power Energy Efficiency Award, a Gold Nugget Merit Award for Sustainable/Green Project of the Year, and FCH is a runner-up in the 2004 "Excellence in Design" awards, selected by Environmental Design + Construction magazine. We've also been featured recently in case studies by Global Green USA, The Green Affordable Housing Coalition, and the Alameda County Waste Management Authority.

We are expanding our green building efforts by adding a full-time Energy Analyst to our team who will work directly with the Executive Director, Director of Construction Management and Asset Manager on issues related to energy and water use in both new development proposals and on the FCH property portfolio.


Responsibilities

Tasks to include:

  • Coordination, analysis and documentation of "Eco-pass" transit program; 
  • Monitoring effectiveness, energy savings [and KWH production] of existing solar and photovoltaic systems installed at FCH properties; 
  • Analysis of individual property water and energy use; 
  • Analysis of the FCH property portfolio water and energy usage; 
  • Analysis of reserve budgets related to initial first cost energy decisions; 
  • Participation in Reserve-Analysis team in regard to energy savings and sustainability; 
  • Participation in new development HVAC system analysis; 
  • Assist in grant applications related to sustainable energy; 
  • Review of metering and sub-metering systems and potential software interfaces; 
  • Continued analysis of State and Federal incentives related to sustainable energy systems; 
  • Participation in FCH GREENbase research on green building materials and sustainability

Educational Background and Previous Employment

The candidate for Energy Analyst should have at least 3 years experience in the field with an educational background with a focus on energy analysis with a major in Alternative Energy Analysis, Construction Technology, Engineering, Architecture or equal, and be motivated to participate in a team development environment focused on sustainable affordable housing. The applicant should have superior computer analysis, computer graphic skills and writing skills.
