Earthwatch is dedicated to using the web in innovative ways to achieve its mission. The ideal candidate will have an interest in helping to achieve Earthwatch's mission. 

Position Summary: 

The Education Web Content Manager will join the Earthwatch Education and Information Technology teams and support the Earthwatch Institute mission. This is a 2 year grant funded position with possibility of renewal. 

We seek a cutting-edge new media artist with experience in cross-platform web design and interactive web-based media. The Education Web Content Manager will play a lead role in the development and coordination of web content related to Earthwatch educational programs and a series of film productions about global Earthwatch research projects. The goal is to create an online environment conducive to high quality engagement and learning about these education films. 

Responsibilities: 

* Under the direction of the Internet Communications Manager, coordinates the design, creation, and ongoing maintenance of Web site interface, navigation, and content display. 
* Facilitates incorporation of content for the film project into the Earthwatch web site as appropriate. 
* Develops web copy, graphics, and multimedia files. 
* Establishes timelines, manages Web content production schedules, and monitors progress of those areas including project requirements, testing, and deadlines; communicates timelines and content changes on a regular basis to all stakeholders 
* Works with the Education Media Specialist to highlight the science and research findings of selected research projects and promote the Earthwatch educational engagement model 
* Develops templates for online interactive engagement for other Earthwatch research programs and Live from the Field events 
* Continuously monitors web content for accuracy and timeliness 
* Assist in the training of staff interns in web production and editing 
* Provide support for general Earthwatch web development and web presence 
* Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications/Skills required: 

* Two + years of work experience in digital/new media development, including computer animation, motion graphics and/or other aspects of web/digital media production 
* Expertise in traditional media production (film, video, audio), or print-based communication 
* Proficient in all aspects of visual web design, including color, typography, layout, branding and visual UI design. 
* Software skills needed: Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Macromedia Flash and HTML/CSS. 
* Experience with video editing software such as Final Cut or Adobe Premier 
* Keen visual design sense. 
* Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage time, and work well with others 
* Ability to bridge the disciplines of education, film production and media production. 
* Commitment to capacity building around science and environmental concerns 

Salary range: $30,000 - $50,000. Good benefit package.
