Description
Position Overview:
Education interns work with park staff in preparing and presenting curriculum-based programs for third through eighth grade students in their classrooms and at the park. Programs have established themes and objectives that focus on natural science or history.
- Spring positions run from April into early June.
- Fall positions take place in September through October.
Qualified applicants must enjoy children, have a sense of curiosity, and be able to meet the physical and mental demands of teaching outdoors.
Responsibilities:
- Work 32 hours per week.
- Participate in ongoing staff training and serve as a member of the education team.
- Lead field-based programs on varying terrain and in all kinds of weather.
- Contribute to the various aspects of district operations as assigned.
- Represent the National Park Service and wear the NPS volunteer uniform.
Compensation: A biweekly stipend of $200.
- $65.00 uniform allowance (Receipts must be provided.)
- Uniform shirts, jackets, and hat provided.
- Fully furnished shared apartment with utilities provided.
- Free laundry facilities available.
