Job Description
- Performs routine ecological risk assessment and ecological assessment assignments under limited supervision and performs more complex assignments and analysis under closer supervision; directs routine risk assessment activities performed by junior staff.
- Prepares written components of written risk assessment reports including data summaries, compilation of dose-response data, exposure assessment and risk assessment calculation tables and summary tables, and preparation of report text.
- Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard risk assessment techniques, procedures and criteria to perform technical tasks, field tasks, studies, and analysis with ongoing review from project team management.
- Collects data in complex field situations without supervision.
- Conducts ecological surveys, habitat characterizations, and other ecological field activities.
- Organizes field work and assigns tasks to staff specialists and technicians.
- Review field reports prepared by staff specialists; provides guidance to field personnel.
- Conducts and documents QA/QC activities for all work assignments.
- Conducts these activities within the identified scope, schedule and budget for each assignment.
- Conducts risk assessment activities in a manner consistent with USEPA and/or State regulatory requirements and associated guidance.
- Prepares proposals and assists in preparation of large scale proposals.
- May contact vendors/subcontractors, research literature and regulatory requirements.
Job Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Ecology, Biology, Toxicology, Risk Assessment or related technical field. Wetland scientist certification would be a plus.
- At least 3 years professional experience in addition to B.S. or at least 2 years professional experience in addition to M.S.
- Demonstrated professional judgment, consistency, and attention to detail as well as a track record of quality work products.
- Experience performing independent analysis and problem solving
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; experience preparing reports that demonstrate technical knowledge.
- Demonstrated experience working successfully in a team environment.
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required.
- For solo work assignments outside of the office, a valid driver's license will be required.
- A physical exam is required to obtain clearance to work on hazardous waste sites.
- Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.
