Description

Sussex Conservation District was formed in 1944, and its mission is to serve Sussex County, Delaware by providing technical guidance and financial assistance to enhance, maintain, protect and improve land and water resources.

Based in Georgetown, DE, SCD's work involves activities in 3 areas: Agricultural Conservation, Heavy Equipment, and Stormwater Management.  These programs serve the agricultural community and urban and suburban landowners in Sussex County.  

Position Overview:

The District Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations and management of the SCD, including staff supervision, program oversight, public and government affairs, and budgeting. The District Coordinator reports to the SCD Board of Supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience that includes a background in management and/or leadership positions in the agricultural and natural resources fields
  • Familiarity with agricultural, environmental, and stormwater issues
  • The ability to build relationships with the business community; the public; and county, state and federal agencies
  • Demonstrated success in private industry or the non-profit sector
  • Experience in project, finance, budgeting, and personnel management
