Position Overview:
The role of this position is to lead the team responsible for specifying, developing and marketing the C3 Energy Audit product. This is a hands-on role requiring working with customers, writing detailed MRDs and assessing build vs. license vs. buy decisions.
Deep experience in the energy audit process, energy efficiency and utility demand management are highly-desired. Product marketing experience is a significant benefit to excelling in this role.
This role requires a deep understanding of, and experience with, ASHRAE Level I, II and III Audits across multiple industries, industry segments and building types. A truly effective energy audit needs to examine not only a sites major energy end use equipment, but the operations, maintenance and management processes of a facility. The audit is a detailed examination of how the facility uses energy, what it pays for that energy, and in conclusion a set of recommendations to reduce the energy costs by both equipment and operational changes.
Responsibilities:
The specific responsibilities include:
- Interact with customers and market thought leaders to define product requirements and best practices
- Research and organize intelligence gathering for both direct and indirect competitors
- Synthesize this research to set a strategic direction and priority for your product(s)
- Define and document business processes that are impacted by your product(s)
- Write detailed Marked Requirements Documents for product capabilities and features
- Build and evaluate business cases to support product investment decisions
- Develop screen designs that support and/or enable your product that conform to company design standards and patterns, and are efficient and intuitive to your target user audience.
- Research and align with industry standards, such as Energy Star, ASHRAE, and EPA
- Work through the detailed design issues for the product, including technology choices and process designs
- Manage OEM partner relationships
-identify necessary and/or desirable third-party features
-evaluating and select OEM vendors
-negotiating agreements and contracts, and managing partnership integration - Ensure that product documentation, release notes, and other content is created and delivered in a timely manner, including writing the end-user documentation from time to time
- Ensure that sales and services training materials are created and delivered in a timely manner
- Create and manage compelling demonstration scripts, data, and demo environments
- Document and evaluate customer experience and feedback through beta and general availability releases to ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Define, track and improve key product metrics that are used to enhance the product
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of energy audit and/or energy efficiency-related experience; a CEM certificate is preferred
- Demonstrated success defining and launching software products
- Able to develop and effectively communicate a product vision, strategy and roadmap
- Able to use 3rd party and primary research to analyze the marketplace, customers and competitors to develop and prioritize valuable product features.
- Experienced in developing business cases
- Experience in writing logical, detailed and complete product requirements and functional specifications
- Strong business acumen and quantitative and analytical problem solving skills
- Able to develop and manage strategic partnerships.
- Knowledgeable in technology, with software as a service (SaaS) delivery models a plus
- MBA, Computer Science and/or Engineering degree
- This position requires travel to customer and non-customer sites globally (25%).
