Redwood Systems is an early stage cleantech startup developing energy efficient commercial lighting control systems, backed by solid management and funded by Battery Ventures and USVP.

Position Overview:

The Director of Solutions Marketing will have a deep understanding of the fundamentals of high technology product marketing and product launch processes to develop profitable and innovative product launch, customer growth, and strategic positioning initiatives. As owner and operator of all outbound marketing programs and budgets, the Director will demonstrate through repeatable programs and comprehensive analytics, the best means, tools, programs, and ways to tell the Redwood story to the market.

Responsibilities:

  • This is a ground floor opportunity to establish your mark on the brand, image, story of Redwood Systems in the marketplace. Starting at the ground means developing the entire whole cloth of programs, strategies, messages, brands, value propositions by which Redwood can penetrate our target markets with an entirely breakthrough platform for energy efficient commercial lighting.
  • Market Insights: Stay on top of every relevant trend, technology and market force that can impact Redwood's success.
  • Analyze competitive product offerings, internalize market dynamics, prioritize customer needs  and translate those into a sustainable (unfair) competitive advantage for Redwood marketing programs
  • Create and lead the implementation of marketing programs focused on building awareness, education and driving sales leads aligned with business and revenue goals
  • Manage annual budgeting and planning processes

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of strong business-to-business solution marketing experience in all phases of bringing new products and features to market, from conception to launch and on-going strategic solutions marketing to create awareness, generate leads, and educate prospective customers.
  • Must have knowledge of and exposure to Product Marketing, Lead Generation, Channel Marketing, Marketing Communications, Events, Sales Training, Seminars, Speaking Opportunities, Executive Briefing Center
  • Must bring strong base of extended virtual team resources to draw from for contract design and event program work related to trade shows, print production, web production, video and flash, seminars and briefings, etc.
  • Deep understanding of the lighting, controls or cleantech industry highly desired; and/or the ability to learn this industry backwards and forwards in weeks, not months or years
  • Exceptional communications skills, including inter-personal, writing, and speaking
  • Ability to work effectively, knowledgeably and collaboratively with a wide range of internal company functions
  • Detailed understanding of the present cost structures for all lead generation programs and a plan for creating measurable metrics to measure new programs and campaign
  • A verifiable passion for sustainable and energy-efficiency technologies
