Position Overview:
The successful candidate will lead the company in the development and management of its solar/and or wind projects. This position will report to the CEO, and will be collaborating with the Director of Finance, and Director of Operations.
Responsibilities:
Typical responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Responsible for identifying and evaluating strategic sites for wind and solar development;
- Developing and managing a portfolio of large-scale wind and/or solar projects for a start-up venture.
- Leading teams to integrate new distributed generation into the electricity grids;
- Leading teams to facilitate, respond to Requests for Proposals, and negotiate and sign Power Purchase Agreements with utilities;
- Direct state, regional and local permitting and approval processes.
- Collaborate with management to secure financing for projects based upon the individual characteristics of each projects.
- Manage the process to select the appropriate solar technology for each project site;
- oversee product design and technology procurement;
- and oversee the operations and maintenance of each solar and wind power plant.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Must have 10 + years experience in managing all phases of developing and a wind and solar project including interconnection, permitting, Power Purchase Agreements, EIS, negotiation with land owners, financing, government incentive programs, and operations and maintenance.
Core Competencies:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Advanced degree in Business.
- Typically possesses at least 10 years of progressive responsible experience in developing and managing wind and/or solar projects and working in the energy/utility market.
- Strong organizational, networking, leadership, time management, and accounting skills.
- Strong public speaking and managerial skills.
- Familiarity with electricity transmission policy, global warming issues and policy.
- Demonstrated experience in working in a start-up company where the candidate is expected to participate in all parts of the business
- Demonstrated experience in negotiation of Power Purchase Agreements and in completing the Interconnection process.
- Demonstrated experience communicating information to diverse stakeholders and working in a start-up venture, small team oriented atmosphere;
- Demonstrated experience with planning, analyzing, designing, evaluating, implementing, and satisfying solar project requirements.
- Demonstrated experience creating and managing project management plans
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate, train, manage, and communicate with suppliers, personnel, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including much experience developing and presenting technical and business information
- Must possess excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project;
- and Ability to travel over 50% of the time.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
Contract-to-hire: initial length contract: 3 months.
