~ The Kennebec Land Trust (KLT) works cooperatively with landowners and communities to conserve the forests, shorelands, fields, and wildlife that define central Maine. ~
KLT protects land permanently, offers opportunities for people to learn about and enjoy the natural world, and works with partners to support sustainable forestry and farming.
Established by citizens in 1988, KLT has partnered with landowners in 21 communities to protect more than 4,660acres on 59 properties through land donations, fee purchases, and conservation easements. We have constructed 32 miles of trails on KLT land, and developed informative brochures and maps of our properties that encourage visitors to learn about and enjoy Kennebec County's natural landscape.
KLT is also a founding partner, along with the Maine Forest Service, of the Kennebec Woodland Partnership, which promotes private and public woodland stewardship.
Position Overview
The Kennebec Land Trust is seeking a full-time, 32-hour a week Director of Membership and Programming. Candidates should have excellent written and oral communication skills, be outgoing and detail-oriented, and have a demonstrated background in membership development; public outreach and program planning; financial record keeping; and graphic design. Prior experience in land conservation, natural resource education, fundraising, or related fields is a plus.
KLT's Director of Membership and Programming will work closely with and report to KLT's Executive Director and will oversee a Financial Contractor.
Responsibilities
- Membership development and database management;
- Coordination of conservation education programs;
- Event planning;
- Volunteer and community outreach; and
- Social and print media communications.
Qualifications
Candidates must be:
- Proficient in MS Office, QuickBooks, and membership database software;
- Highly organized;
- Able to meet deadlines;
- Capable of multitasking; and
- Knowledgeable about data analysis and reporting.

Benefits: Position starts with two weeks of paid vacation time, seven days of paid sick time, twelve paid holidays, three paid personal days, retirement benefits, and a health care stipend. The schedule occasionally requires work on weekends and evenings.
