Description & Responsibilities
The Development/ Communications coordinator will work with the Development & Communications team to support fundraising and press goals. The coordinator will report directly to the individual giving and corporate relations manager, but will work closely with three other team members. This job offers an excellent opportunity to learn about key organizational functions, including individual and foundation fundraising, and external and internal communications.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Development (approximately 75%)
* Conduct prospect research for individual, foundation, and corporate giving programs
* Support planning and execution of donor events (on-site and offsite)
* Maintain GiftMaker development database (including gift processing, data entry, and monthly revenue reports)
* Support grant writing activities, including letters of inquiry, proposals, and reports
* Assist with production and distribution of monthly e-newsletter
* Coordinate quarterly funder mailing and teleconference calls
* Support ongoing stewardship, including distribution of reports to individuals, foundation partners, and corporate prospects
* Process grants (acknowledgements, file contracts, update grants binder, coordinate with finance dept)
* Maintain donor files
* Support grants management and monthly financial reporting. Coordinate with the finance department to forecast revenue expectations and collect outstanding payments
* Research Ceres company and sponsorship prospects
Communications (approximately 25%)
* Track press mentions in MediaSource database, maintain bibliography and press binder that catalogues articles that mention Ceres
* Coordinate with webmaster to post recent press on the website
* Prepare and maintain Ceres information packets (press clippings, Ceres one-pagers, relevant press releases and recent reports), and organize information for multiple audiences, e.g. INCR outreach, corporate outreach, foundation partners etc.
* Maintain database of press contacts
* Additional marketing and communications projects, as time allows
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree required
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* Ability to work well independently, and collaboratively with a four-person team
* Strong organizational and administrative skills. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Proficiency with MS Office Suite and ability to learn new applications easily.
