The Development Associate position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to work as part of a team of accomplished fundraising professionals in a highly successful national non-profit with an annual budget of close to $2 million.
The Development Associate's responsibilities will include:
* Supervising a Development Team Intern while responding to the needs of two Development Directors;
* Maintaining relations with individual and institutional donors, including writing and sending thank you letters and coordinating donor visits;
* Updating the records of funders in New American Dream's database;
* Compiling research on foundations and major donor prospects;
* Drafting various development materials, including proposals, grant reports, and letters of inquiry;
* Overseeing monthly donor, in-kind, workplace, and matching gift programs, including soliciting reputable companies for in-kind donations; and
* Helping with general administrative work (approximately 10% of time) and other tasks as requested.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent writer who is extremely detail-oriented, capable of taking initiative on specific projects, and able to positively represent the mission of the Center for a New American Dream to current and potential funders. Successful applicants will also have a sense of humor and subscribe to our philosophy of "more fun, less stuff." Experience/interest in database maintenance preferred; 1+ years experience in development/fundraising strongly preferred.
Timeframe: This is a staff position beginning mid-May 2006, for 4 days per week (full-time).
Compensation/Benefits: Competitive salary, health insurance coverage, 4-day (32 hour) workweek (Monday-Thursday), 4 weeks vacation, quality of life benefit, and a pension plan that begins after one year of employment.
