The Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) is a growing national 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to making school facilities better places to learn by protecting student and staff health and enhancing the learning environment; conserving energy, water and other resources thereby reducing operating costs; and minimizing waste, pollution and environmental degradation.
CHPS is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and creative individual to usher CHPS into the Brave New World of corporate and foundation fundraising. This position is located in Northern California.
Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the successful candidate will:
- Provide leadership on the organization's efforts to obtain financial and other support to sustain its work, including annual and planned giving, earned income, and approaches to individuals, foundations and corporations.
- Working closely with the Board Blue Ribbon Committee and the Executive Director develop and successfully implement an integrated plan for Development with a goal of creating a balanced and sustainable fundraising portfolio to meet CHPS mission and organizational growth objectives.
- Develop ties with the education, health, construction, and environmental communities and achieve membership/participation goals.
- Manage program budgets.
- Participate as a member of the management team to formulate and implement policies and plans to meet the organizations short- and long-term objectives.
- Develop and implement programs to attract and retain members of the organization;
- manage the membership database and oversee regular communications to members;
- ensure members' inquiries and problems are responded to promptly;
- research and develop new methods to increase membership.
- Identify key audiences and refine audience-specific value proposition and messages (relevant, compelling, and authentic).
- Provide leadership to ensure that member's needs are met to foster retention of current members and successful integration of new members.
Qualifications:
Candidate Profile and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum of 3 years development experience. 5 years non-profit organization experience preferred.
- CFRE, MBA and/or CAE preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated track record in designing and leading efforts to raise funds from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and individuals.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Self-starter able to initiate work and meet deadlines with minimum supervision.
- Knowledge of grant processes and funding sources and a sound understanding of nonprofit fundraising principles and the development cycle.
- Excellent organizational skills and careful attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary, team-based environment.
- Enjoys developing relationships across organizations.
- Ability to work well with others and influence others to achieve outcomes.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and independently.
- Ability to present and interpret organizational mission and program goals to prospective donors.
- Fluency with computer software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access and Sugar CRM.
- Motivated by outcomes.
- Experienced writer with excellent editing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively and bring fresh ideas and approaches to development and membership initiatives.

Compensation: The salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.
