The New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) seeks a qualified candidate to manage its Division of Citywide Energy Conservation (DCEC) and play a central role in developing and implementing new programs to achieve the City's ambitious energy reduction goals expressed in PLaNYC.
DCEC is the City's primary energy cost control and energy efficiency entity. It is responsible for procuring electric, gas and steam for all City facilities, dealing with utility companies and processing payment, developing and monitoring the City's annual energy budget, promulgating energy conservation guidelines and programs, and coordinating these efforts with other City agencies. DCEC handles accounts that serve 80 agencies and more than 4,000 buildings.
Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will serve in the in-house title of Deputy Commissioner for Citywide Energy Conservation. Under general executive direction, with a great deal of latitude for independent initiative, judgment and decision, the Deputy Commissioner for Citywide Energy Conservation will be responsible for development of new policies and programs along with the efficient and effective management of the City's energy budgeting, procurement, and bill-paying functions. The Deputy Commissioner will have major responsibility for coordination of energy functions with other City entities.
