Position Overview: 

University of Texas at Austin seeks candidates for a Manager in the Demand-Side Energy and Resource Conservation program. This position provides leadership and management of a comprehensive campus-wide demand-side energy and resource conservation program implementing delivery, operations, maintenance, and energy consumption. Incumbent will serve as the campus energy management and resource conservation authority and expert to students, faculty and staff.

Responsibilities:

Works collaboratively with academic, athletic, auxiliary, student and administrative organizations to further the Demand-Side Energy and Resource Conservation program incorporating current technologies and processes. Reviews detailed designs and specifications for HVAC controls and other mechanical systems to ensure energy and water efficiency.

Manages the identification, development and implementation of projects to further energy and resource conservation. Develops sustainable operations and maintenance programs that further energy and water conservation goals. Develops and indentifies alternate funding sources for energy and water consuming equipment.

Interfaces with federal, state and city organizations to identify demand-side energy and resource conservation opportunities. Supervises staff in performance of the functions within the program.

Qualifications: 

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or other related field such as Energy and the Environment, Sustainability, etc. A minimum of 2 years experience managing a successful energy management and conservation program. Experience supervising technical staff. Ability to manage projects from conception, to programming, to implementation. Certified Energy Engineer (CEM) certification or obtain CEM within first 12 months of employment.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification or certification within first 24 months of employment. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse constituents and workforce. Strong written and oral communication skills, to include presenting to large audiences. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

An advanced degree in Engineering or related. Registration as professional engineer. Experience in educational, research, and/or health care facilities, infrastructures or systems. Demonstrated experience in utilizing EMCS/BAS systems to manage and conserve energy. More than 2 years experience managing a successful energy and water management and conservation program. Experience in using a wide range of social media and technology for communication program goals and successes (i.e., WebPages, Facebook, blogs, etc.).
