The Corporate Sustainability team, which is part of the External Affairs and Public Policy department, works to demonstrate leadership and elevate PG&E's sustainability commitment across the environmental, economic, and social dimensions of our business to enable a better quality of life for our customers and communities.
With the support of PG&E's Chief Sustainability Officer, the team works collaboratively and proactively to advance energy and environmental policy issues important to our business and customers; telling our story by measuring and communicating PG&E's corporate sustainability performance; identify, benchmark, and implement best practices to drive continuous improvement within our business; and engage with a wide range of stakeholders, both within and outside the company, to guide and advance PG&E's sustainability journey.
Position Overview
The Corporate Sustainability Representative will work collaboratively to tell our story and support continuous improvement of PG&E's corporate sustainability performance.
This includes researching, writing, and managing data for various corporate sustainability reporting and communication activities. It also includes assisting in implementing best practices and supporting relationships with a range of stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate complex issues to a range of audiences and constituencies. They will also have demonstrated leadership skills, knowledge, and experience with environmental, energy, economic vitality, and other corporate sustainability issues and best practices.
They will possess strong research, analytical, organizational, creative, and strategic thinking skills. They will also have the ability to excel both independently and as part of a team and to manage multiple projects simultaneously and from conception to implementation.
Responsibilities
- Lead research, writing, and overall project management for PG&E's annual Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Report.
- Lead annual Dow Jones Sustainability Index submission and engagement with other third-party ratings and rankings of PG&E's sustainability performance.
- Support PG&E's internal sustainability governance and coordination by working with employees from a variety of departments on cross-cutting, complex issues that have a sustainability component and implement best practice programs and initiatives.
- Demonstrate technical proficiency and collaborate with business units to set and track key companywide corporate sustainability performance metrics and goals.
- Provide expert and strategic consultation on environmental, social, and economic issues and best practices related to the long-term sustainability of PG&E's business.
- Support various other corporate sustainability reporting and communication activities.
- Manage contracts with external vendors.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 3 years of relevant work experience
- At least one year of professional writing experience
- Master's degree
- Prior experience communicating corporate sustainability issues to various stakeholders
- Prior utility industry experience
