Corporate Bag Sales and Merchandising Representative

Since 1989, Cedar Grove Composting has diverted over 4 million tons of organic material from landfills, preventing 3.72 million metric tons (C02e) of greenhouse gas emissions- the equivalent of removing approximately 670,000 cars from the road.  Cedar Grove takes valuable resources and converts them in to earth friendly compost used to replenish urban soils, minimize storm water run-off, conserve water and provide all-natural gardening solutions that minimize chemical usage and keep waterways healthy for salmon and other vital habitat communities.

Position Overview:

The Corporate Bag Sales and Merchandising Representative supports Cedar Grove Composting and Perfect Blend in the following ways:

Provides sales representation to major box store and retail business owners and buyers in strategic markets within the western United States. The primary role of this position is to increase bag sales and develop new bag lines and markets for the collective line of Cedar Grove and Perfect Blend products. Also responsible for supporting marketing efforts with POS research and design for effective in-store reference information, signage as well as online support.

Responsibilities:

• Represent Cedar Grove and Perfect Blend in a sales and business development capacity to expand revenues from current and future bagged products
• Negotiate annual contracts and introduce new products to national buyers in the bagged product/retail area
• Cultivate new accounts in the grocery chain and other under-developed business sectors
• Research potential new products and present marketing and business plans and strategies to develop new, profitable lines within business sectors
• Work on costing plans to encompass production and distribution of bags
• Work with transportation group and logistics partners to maximize geographic coverage of bags throughout region
• Represent both companies within the government community and provide educational support to cities and counties
• Develop private label program for major retailers
• Network within the retail community to enhance Cedar Grove and Perfect Blend's name and brand
• Work with collective marketing departments to grow the product brands and reputation

Qualifications:

8+ years field sales experience, able to perform at advanced level in all MS office suite applications (excel, word, outlook, Powerpoint), have experience with CRM tracking system, sales pipeline, projections, merchandising at retail garden centers, and an ability to communicate and make compelling presentations at corporate buying and executive management level of organizations.

Education/Certification:

BS or BA degree, preferably in marketing, agriculture, or business,

Experience/Other:

Experience in soil and organic fertilizer market development within western region a plus.

Compensation: $70,000/year plus initial commission and bonus potential of up to $15,000 annually
