E+Co is seeking an experienced Controller to manage its accounting operations and monthly financial reporting processes.

E+Co is also a leader in impacts reporting. We monitor our investments across a menu of 36 social, environmental and financial indicators. To implement its work, E+Co secures grants, donations and contracts and borrows funds from foundations, institutions and individuals, blending these funds to support its enterprise development services to and investments in energy enterprises and its general and administrative operating costs.

E+Co's investment of services and capital in small and growing businesses is currently providing modern energy to 4.8 million people, avoiding over three million metric tons of greenhouse gases per year. Between 2009 and 2012, E+Co expects to invest over $100 million, via approximately 250 investments, bringing modern energy to 17 million people and avoiding 16 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent.

In 2008, E+Co, through its Investment Committee, Officers and its subsidiary fund management company, approved 79 new investments totaling $17.8 million. E+Co's 2009 budget includes approving $15.3 million in new investments, supported by $5.1 million in operating expenses.

Position Overview:

E+Co has several non-profit and for-profit branches and subsidiaries, requiring multiple levels of consolidation and financial reporting for internal and external purposes. The Controller will manage E+Co's worldwide accounting operations, cash management and financial reporting using the MicroSoft Dynamics GP accounting system, FRX reporting system and custom designed Loan Servicing Software (LSS). The Controller is a key member of the Finance team, reporting to the CFO and interacting with other Senior Managers.

The Controller will work closely with the Finance Manager and will directly supervise the Finance Assistant, the finance related functions of the US Office Manager/Global Accounts Specialist, and the finance related functions of 7 regionally based Office Managers.

Responsibilities:

The Controller is a hands-on position whose specific responsibilities include:

• Supervise and/or perform accounting operations including banking transactions, investment transactions, payroll and employee benefits
• Direct the month end accounting close including coordination of world wide financial functions
• Reconciliation of General Ledger accounts
• Financial statement preparation
• Statutory and managerial financial reporting
• General Ledger and Loan Servicing System maintenance
• Cash management and reporting
• Maintenance and implementation of worldwide internal controls
• Assist CFO in preparing Annual Budget and Multiple-Year forecasts
• Assist CFO in strategic planning for Finance Department
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be team-oriented, able to deal with ambiguity, committed to the "Triple Bottom Line" of financial, social and environmental returns, self-motivated, have a sense of humor and bring the following to E+Co:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role
• Proficiency with both GAAP for non-profit and for-profit organizations
• Ability to think through complex transactions and develop appropriate accounting solutions
• Experience in communicating financial concepts to a wide range of audiences
• Expertise with module based accounting systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics GP
• Proficiency with Excel, Word and Power Point
• Familiarity with foreign currency exchange
• Strong interpersonal communication and relationship skills
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to inspire, create and sustain highly functional teams that function across the organization.

Location: Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA; possibly 1-2 international trips annually
