Conservation Specialist

Position Overview

Natural Lands Trust is pleased to announce an addition to our Conservation Services department.

Responsibilities

• The Conservation Specialist will provide assistance to all of the project managers in Conservation Services as they engage in land acquisition, land stewardship consulting, conservation planning, and municipal assistance; and,
• The Specialist will engage in report writing and compilation, GIS analysis and cartography, GPS data collection, plant identification and meeting logistics. 

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in ecology/biology, planning/landscape architecture, or a related field with 2 years of work experience, or a Master's Degree with 1 year of experience; 
• Experience using ArcGIS and ArcSDE software, Microsoft Office programs, with PhotoShop, a plus; 
• Working knowledge of common mid-Atlantic plant assemblages; 
• Field experience with GPS equipment; 
• Ability to successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously; 
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail; 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; 
• Willingness and ability to assist and work with a wide variety of people; 
• A demonstrated enthusiastic and positive attitude; 
• A passion for land conservation and providing quality service; and,
• Reliable transportation.

Working Conditions:

• This is mostly an office-based position, requiring frequent sitting for long periods, with occasional periods of walking, standing, bending and reaching;
• The position requires use of the computer and the telephone and handling large printed materials; and,
• The position requires work at outdoor sites, including driving and walking and standing on uneven terrain.
