Conservation Program Manager

Summary of Responsibilities:

To manage the conservation program at Historic Bok Sanctuary which includes:

• Planning and carrying out the rare plant conservation program in coordination
  with private and public organizations through fieldwork, research, and education.
• Management and curation of the National Collection of endangered Plant
  Species as a Participating Institution of the Center for Plant Conservation.
• Stewardship of natural and open lands of the Foundation.

Required Qualifications:

• MS in horticulture or biological science.
• A highly organized person with
  appropriate experience in the following:
  • plant propagation,

  field surveys and
  monitoring,

  • natural areas management,
  • conducting environmental assessments,
  • plant identification,
  • research,
  • and nursery/field work;
• experience with endangered
  plant conservation desirable.
• Must have the ability to work with and supervise
  paid staff/volunteers,
• prepare/administer budgets including grants,
• work as a team
  member with various department managers,
• and have or be willing to obtain a
  certificate for prescribed burning.
• Good written/verbal communication skills and
  public speaking skills are required.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Word/Excel is
  required; experience with ArcView 8, GPS Pathfinder Office, and Trimble Pro
  XR (or similar) is preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience is
  required.
