Position Overview:
Manage and execute all aspects of Next Step Living community outreach programs designed to generate interest in Next Step Living's services within a portfolio of 6-10 municipalities.
Reports To: Director of Community Programs
FLSA Status: Exempt
Department: Community Programs
Location: Boston, MA with frequent regional travel
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Coordinate with municipal officials and community groups to implement multi-year community outreach campaigns
- Meet quarterly goals in each municipality for generating scheduled energy assessments
- Customize Next Step Living community outreach program to meet the specific needs of portfolio municipalities including identifying community specific resources to complement Next Step Living offerings
- Assist in the design paper online outreach materials and social networking strategy for each program
- Create and maintain relationships with institutions within municipalities such as faith-based groups, educational organizations, and local business for the purpose of generating interest for Next Step Living's services among their members or constituents
- Plan and attend events in communities to promote active programs
- Spend 3-4 days per week on the ground in portfolio communities building and promoting the program
- May be responsible for the recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and scheduling of volunteer or paid workers for the purpose of conducting door to door or other outreach initiatives
- Prepare reports and track results to assess success of outreach program; adjust as necessary to improve outcome
- Assist the Director of Community programs in refining Next Step Living's community outreach offering and building interest in communities not yet partnered with Next Step Living.
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from 4-year college or university; or 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2 years experience managing community organizing campaigns such as voter registration/mobilization or cause awareness
Language Ability:
- Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, Cantonese, or Vietnamese a plus
Math Ability:
- Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
Reasoning Ability:
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Computer Skills:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software and Spreadsheet software
- Experience with Salesforce customer relationship management software desirable
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold (non-weather) and extreme heat (non-weather).
- Travel to portfolio municipalities 3-4 days per week to execute programs
Physical Demands:
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision and Peripheral vision.
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms; and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
