Texas Campaign for Envrionment (TCE) is dedicated to informing and mobilizing Texans to protect the quality of their lives, their health, their communities and the environment. We believe that people have a right to know and a right to act on issues that fundamentally affect their lives and future generations.
TCE is a non-partisan, non-profit citizens' organization that focuses on local and state issues. TCE has organized award-winning campaigns to protect our public health in Texas. Polls consistently show Texans support policies to protect the environment and our quality of life; TCE works to give Texans the opportunity to channel that support into action.
Position Overview
As part of our staff, you would organize communities around environmental issues. Responsibilities include one-on-one communication, fundraising, dispersing information, and good record keeping.
We look for candidates who have strong oral and written communication skills, and who possess good attention to detail. Candidates should have an interest in working to protect our environment. Entry level organizing positions are available. We do provide extensive training on the job responsibilities and on the issues we cover.
The hours for the work are from 2pm to 10:00pm, Monday through Friday or at least 3 days a week between Monday and Friday. We are hiring for positions starting immediately for fall and winter semesters or long term work. We provide benefits, travel opportunities, and the potential for growth within the organization.
Community Organizers speak with Texans directly to educate them on key environmental issues and get them involved in our strength in numbers strategy. We strive to hold elected officials and corporate leaders accountable to the public voice on health, environmental and economic issues. To fight organized money, we need organized people!
Qualifications
- Must be able to work Monday-Friday, 2:00-10:00pm
- Part-time available for students, minimum 3 weekdays, 2:00-10:00pm
- Strong communication skills
- Commitment to environmental, social, and political justice
- Some college, or relevant experience is preferred
Compensation
- $425-490 per week
