Position Overview

NEEF is seeking an Intern for our Communications department. The Intern will be supporting the department with a number of multifaceted projects.

This is a three-month unpaid position that starts as early as May. The work schedule is 20 hours per week; hours are flexible within organization operating hours (9:00a - 5:00p). This internship could be used toward course study or credits towards program, contingent on approval by NEEF and the college or university.  

Responsibilities 

  • Research best practices for existing NEEF social media platforms.
  • Research emerging social media platforms.
  • Post to social media accounts according to NEEF's guidelines and departmental guidance.
  • Track the growth and impact of NEEF's social media.
  • Research new innovative communications techniques.
  • Assist in the creation of e-newsletters, graphic designs, and video productions. 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:  

  • A background and interest in the environment, education, communications, marketing, or a related field. 
  • An interest in environmental education. 
  • Excellent research, writing, computer and website skills.
  • Familiarity with social media tools and direct experience as an active user on multiple outlets (e.g. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Vine, Instagram, etc.). 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook). 
  • Experience with website editing (or the ability to quickly learn how to do so). 
  • A positive attitude and a desire to promote environmental education throughout the country.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities, be detail-oriented, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and be a team player. 
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with our small program team.
