Description & Responsibilities
Reporting to the director of communications, the communications associate will be responsible for helping to effectively communicate Ceres' work to the outside world and increase its profile in the business and mainstream press.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Leading and managing the organizations' two web sites (www.ceres.org and www.incr.com), including drafting original content, making day-to-day edits and integrating new features to expand robustness and overall reach of web sites.
* Collaborating with program staff to draft and edit reports, newsletters and other publications
* Coordinating media outreach by drafting and disseminating press releases, opinion pieces and other written materials, and initiating and maintaining relationships with journalists
* Coordinating report distribution
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree
* 2-3 years of direct professional experience in journalism, communications or public relations required
* Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong writing experience required
* Web site experience required
* Experience working with media preferred
* Knowledge of and experience working on environmental/sustainability issues, preferably with an understanding of corporate social responsibility
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; must be a self-starter and entrepreneurial
* Computer proficiency, with an emphasis on the MS Office suite and web applications.
