Position Overview

CEE seeks an experienced professional to lead its efforts advancing commercial sector efficiency through voluntary programs. The individual may co-chair one or more committee of program administrators and support the pursuit of US and Canadian efficiency program interests, building consensus around technology solutions and program approaches and gaining the support of key manufacturer stakeholders. This position reports to the Deputy Director and supervises three fulltime program managers. 

General Requirements:

Primary responsibility for managing the commercial CEE Initiatives that address commercial end users, including HVAC, kitchens, data centers, and whole building systems. We seek candidates with demonstrated analytical and facilitation skills, creative strategic thinking abilities, and a passion for energy efficiency. 

The individual hired will work closely with their team, and at times will work collaboratively with other colleagues to ensure due consideration of cross cutting measures and programs. 
Direct experience working in the energy industry would be desirable. 

Responsibilities  

  • Manage the CEE commercial sector, including maintaining the relevance of existing bi-national initiatives, while assessing and exploring new program opportunities
  • Serve as the principal contact and agent for sustaining and advancing the strategic direction of CEE's commercial programs and explorations
  • Cultivate and manage strategic relationships with industry partners including manufacturers, trade associations, and other stakeholders to inform CEE direction and work products
  • Facilitate and support regular committee meetings of utility, government, advocate and other stakeholders via teleconference, virtual extranet platform, and in person gatherings
  • Enlist the active participation of leading individuals in the Consortium's committees
  • Lead major work efforts, including developing new program areas
  • Manage, track and report progress of the sector and its components against goals, objectives, and timelines for both internal and external requirements
  • Represent the organization and its work in multiple venues
  • Manage and maintain an online forum for advancing committee work
  • Guide research of technologies, market conditions, or energy savings opportunities
  • Oversee the management of market and technology assessments, program guides, program summaries, qualifying products lists, white papers, or explorations. Communications media include but are not limited to the CEE website, the CEE Forum (members-only extranet website), electronic communications, and oral presentations
  • Monitor and communicate to internal and external stakeholders relevant technology, market, policy, federal standards, and other industry developments that impact efficiency programs 

Qualifications 

  • A graduate degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, for example, a BA or BS including graduate coursework, honors thesis, or significant applicable experience, in a relevant field, such as economics, marketing, public policy, or environmental studies
  • 5-10 years of full time work experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate groups and work constructively towards consensus with individuals of varied experience levels and personalities
  • Ability to manage workload across multiple projects, manage project timelines, and to work independently
  • Ability to understand market motivations and dynamics
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize quantitative information for different audiences
  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Office software
  • Willingness to travel. On average one trip quarterly, but can be up to one per month.
