Position Overview

MSC is seeking candidates for a new position: Commercial Manager, in Toronto, Canada.

The Commercial Manager, Canada will lead development, implementation, management and tracking of the MSC's commercial outreach program in Canada. 

This exciting and challenging new role provides a great opportunity for the right individual to shape and influence the MSC's commercial and consumer strategy in Canada.  

Responsibilities  

  • You will promote and grow the MSC program among a broad range of interest groups including retail, foodservice, universities, hospitals, contract caterers, broad-line distributors and specialty seafood distributors. 
  • The post holder will deliver improvements for MSC-certified and labelled products and increase consumer awareness.
  • Reporting to the Program Director, Canada, the Commercial Manager will work in collaboration with other members of the Canada team and the Americas Region team to deliver a consistent approach to the harvest, market and consumer sectors in Canada and participate in the collective strategic planning and development of the MSC program in the country and the region. 
  • You will also be involved in wider MSC projects.  

Qualifications  

Minimum qualifications include: 

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline such as marketing, business administration, economics, or seafood trade.  
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken English and French is essential.
  • Five or more years of relevant experience in sales and account management, especially in relation to the retail and/or foodservice sectors, and experience in seafood desirable. Experience in development and implementation of promotion and merchandising.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Canada retail and foodservice market, global supply chains, with seafood knowledge is desirable. 
  • Knowledge of third party certification schemes and the role of eco-labelling would be an advantage.
  • Ability to travel, to work effectively while traveling, and to work irregular hours when necessary.  Must have a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
