Description

LIVE is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that provides education and certification for vineyards and wineries. LIVE uses international standards of sustainable viticultural and enological practices in both wine-grape and wine production. These practices are based on an independent 3rd-party-verified checklist system consisting of required and prohibited elements, as well as numerous ecological options. 

In 2010, the Oregon Environmental Council (OEC) began the transition of the Carbon Neutral Challenge to the administration of LIVE for the purposes of creating a standalone certification of carbon reduction and neutrality. This program is currently in development and will be launched in 2011. 

Position Overview: 

LIVE is currently hiring a Program Manager to administer this program.

Reports To:  LIVE Program Director (day-to-day), LIVE Board of Directors (at regular board meetings)

Responsibilities: 

The Climate Pioneers program manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of a new carbon reduction and mitigation certification program for the wine industry.

More specifically, the Climate Pioneers Program Manager will be responsible for:

  • Managing the administrative tasks of a certification program:
    o   Organizing and tracking annual inspections
    o   Providing customer service and basic technical assistance, including how to reduce carbon footprints
    o   Identifying verifiable carbon offset options for members
    o   Producing certification materials for the membership (certificates, reports, etc.)
    o   Producing educational materials to assist membership
    o   Producing promotional materials and recruiting new members
  • Organizing meetings of the various committees and sub-committees, and convening an advisory and technical committee for the program
  • Provide input into the budgeting process, eventually working within the budget that is developed by the LIVE PD and approved by the LIVE Board of Director

Qualifications: 

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Highly organized and pragmatic mindset
  • Ability to work independently with strong work ethic
  • Grant writing experience and successful track record in procuring funding for projects
  • Computer literate (MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite) as this program will aim to be paperless from day one.  PM will work with a web-developer to architect a new website for members to use for reporting.
  • Public speaking experience - ability to convey complex topics in understandable terms
  • Effective communicator and works well with people
  • Organizational development background helpful, but not required
  • Knowledge of and experience in Oregon wine industry preferred but not required
  • Greenhouse Gas mitigation knowledge or background preferred but not required
  • Willingness to travel to various wine regions of the northwest
  • Bachelor's degree required, Masters degree in business or related field preferred

Compensation: The compensation for this position is commensurate with experience. This position is full-time and will be based out of Salem.
