ABC's environmental arm focuses on businesses in the commercial real estate sector that have an impact on, and are affected by rising greenhouse gas emissions. ABC works with these businesses to mitigate climate change through sustainability actions as well as aiding in adapting to the effects of climate change such as extreme weather events.

Position Overview

ABC is looking for an internship candidate to conduct research on building design and technologies on climate change resiliency. This candidate will work on researching currently implemented building techniques & technologies to adapt to effects from climate change. Research will also focus on implementable actions and will work with staff to promote within Boston's commercial real estate community.

The Climate Change Resiliency Research Intern start date is June 2, 2014 - and end date is August 29, 2014.

Responsibilities 

  • Conduct research on current and new building design practices addressing climate change resiliency.
  • Conduct research on current and new building technologies addressing climate change resiliency.
  • Summarize current reports on building resiliency from different groups.
  • Outreach to different cities on building design & technology.
  • Outreach to business and building owners on current techniques being used.
  • Collaborate with groups to gain full understanding of rising sea level risks to Boston. 

Final Outcomes:

  • Provide ABC environment team with an understanding of the top implementable technologies and techniques in building design to address climate change resiliency.
