Clean Energy Analyst

The Alliance for Clean Energy New York (ACE NY) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that serves as the premier multi-technology renewable energy industry organization for New York State.

ACE NY’s members include environmental, civic, educational, and labor organizations, as well as for-profit companies engaged in the development and operation of landbased wind power, solar power, hydroelectric, and offshore wind power facilities, and companies engaged in electricity transmission, electric vehicle manufacturing, energy efficiency contracting, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, plus consulting to or supporting the clean energy industry.

ACE NY’s mission is to promote the use of clean, renewable electricity technologies and energy efficiency in New York State, in order to increase energy diversity and security, boost economic development, improve public health, and reduce air pollution. Its Board of Directors consists of clean energy companies and national and state environmental organizations.

Position Overview

The Alliance for Clean Energy New York (ACE NY) seeks a full time Clean Energy Analyst for in-person employment in our Albany, NY office to lead our work on three topics: distributed renewable energy resources, transportation electrification, and energy efficiency/building decarbonization.

ACE NY works in collaboration with a variety of other environmental organizations and trade associations on these three topics, and the Clean Energy Analyst will be responsible representing ACE NY in these coalitions; seeking input from our member companies on these three topics; occasionally drafting written statements on ACE NY’s policy positions; tracking policy developments on these three topics at NYS agencies and the Legislature; and coordinating bi-weekly teleconferences on these three topics. The Clean Energy Analyst will also be required to keep the ACE NY internal team up-to-date on these three subject areas and will report to the Deputy Director of ACE NY.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in energy or environmental policy, or relevant field;
• One-three years of work experience in the energy, environmental, or public policy field;
• Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills;
• Demonstrated interest in public policy or sustainable energy; and
• Willingness to undertake occasional travel to NYC and around New York State.

Preferred:

• Graduate degree in energy policy or related field, or additional years of work experience; and
• Experience or familiarity in the three topics that this position will focus on: transportation electrification energy efficiency/building decarbonization, and distributed renewable energy generation, e.g. community solar.

Salary range: $60,000 – $75,000, commensurate with level of experience.
