Description
Duties:
The Chapter Coordinator is one of two staff in SCC
ECAN's Toronto office, and reports to the Chapter
Director. The primary responsibilities of the Chapter
Coordinator are to manage the operations of the Chapter
office, coordinate the administrative functions of the
Chapter, and assist the Chapter Director with fundraising.
The Chapter Coordinator will also work with the Director
and with the volunteer leaders of the Chapter to support
the campaign programs and activities of the Chapter.
The position is full-time and will start in late June.
Job Responsibilities include:
- Work with the Chapter Director and volunteer Chapter
leaders to coordinate and carry out the administrative,
fundraising and campaign programs of the Chapter - Primary responsibility for maintaining the Chapter
office and for the administrative functions of the Chapter,
with volunteer assistance - Financial management of the Chapter, including
banking and assisting with accounting - Recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers
(with volunteer assistance) - Communication with Sierra Club of Canada members,
local groups of the Sierra Club, the public, other
environmental organizations, and the media - Assist the Chapter Director with research and
development of fundraising proposals - Work closely with the volunteer conservation chair and
volunteer conservation campaign leaders to support the
research, development, execution and evaluation of
focused conservation campaigns for the Chapter - Assist with the member recruitment and development and
the development of new environmental education programs - Maintain the Chapter's membership databases, liaise
with the national membership coordinator, and share
membership information with local Sierra Club groups - Be familiar with all Sierra Club of Canada policies
and bylaws and adhere to them - Participate as appropriate in Chapter committees
and liaise with all Chapter committee chairs and
other volunteers on a regular basis
Qualifications:
- Time management skills: ability to prioritize
and multi-task - Strong written and oral communication skills
- Financial management skills
- Interest in environmental protection and basic
knowledge of environmental issues
