Want to make a difference on the most important issue facing humanity today? 

The California Climate Breakthrough Initiative (CCBI), a non-profit organization focused on engaging key influencers, decision-makers, and organizations throughout the climate movement in effort to stay under the international consensus 2 degree Celsius heat ceiling, is looking for interns.

Responsibilities


You will have an opportunity to perform at least some of these duties during your internship:
 

  • Assume responsibility for one major project in your selected issue area with the assistance and oversight of your mentor, for example in depth research on a proposed policy measure, helping to organize a major event, etc. 
  • Review and analyze various climate studies and reports, and other organization's and leader's efforts, and make recommendations for future action by the CCBI, as appropriate. 
  • Interact with business leaders, legislators, government offices, NGO and foundation leaders on climate change policy and programs. 
  • Assist in preparing for meetings with various leaders, including agenda, preparation and mailing, follow-up phone calls, meeting research and minutes. Interns are also encouraged to attend the meetings they have helped to arrange and other Leadership Group meetings and events to learn and to make contacts. 
  • Prepare and present information to appropriate audiences. Anticipate and be prepared to answer audience questions on issues.
  • Assist other office staff and coordinators in administrative projects, as needed. 
  • Draft policy, regulatory and programmatic memos on priority issues.
  • Update content for CCBI website. 
  • Assist with planning, coordination, communications, and support of meetings.
  • Assist with logistics and planning for various events or conferences.
  • Attend meetings, roundtables, seminars and fora with leading decision-makers, as appropriate. 

Note: This is a volunteer internship position. College credit may be available through your school. Interns must commit to a minimum of fifteen hours per week for a minimum of three months. Individual circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
