Description

The National Association of Regional Councils (NARC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit national membership organization and public interest group that works to strengthen the nation's 500-plus multi-jurisdictional regional planning organizations, including regional councils (RCs), metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) and councils of governments (COGs), by promoting regional approaches to local problems and improving the quality of life for America's communities in the areas of environment, transportation, economic development and emergency preparedness.

NARC recently launched the Green Regions Campaign to expand outreach to regional planning organizations on environmental issues, including air and water pollution, climate change, energy, smart growth, and the green economy. The Campaign will achieve its goals through an interactive website, research and surveys, Congressional and public briefings, workshops, webinars, and training sessions. The Campaign will also educate federal agencies, decision-makers, the media, and the general public about the important role of regions in environmental protection.

The Green Regions Campaign is the first of four Campaigns that NARC will launch. Each campaign will be focused on one of NARC's four issue areas: environment, transportation, economic development and homeland security.
