Position Overview:
BBMG is seeking a Business Development Director to lead BBMG's business development and marketing efforts.
The Business Development Director is responsible for building and cultivating new relationships with client prospects, strategic partners, business networks and event organizers. As the first point of contact for the agency, the individual in this role must be an embodiment of the BBMG brand. From experience with brand development, design, co-creativity, business innovation and sustainability to a friendly and inquisitive nature, the ideal candidate will be a fast learner, concise writer and financial wonk.
The ability to understand a business challenge, build trust with the client, frame the agency's experience and deliver compelling ideas and solutions within tight budgets and timelines is essential to the success of this role. Likewise, the ideal candidate will have experience developing forward thinking editorial content across blogs, social media, video and presentation content. Finally, we're looking for a willingness to roll with the punches, keep it all in perspective and run a tight ship.
Key responsibilities include lead cultivation, proposal writing, thought leadership development, internal project planning and budgeting, contact management and conference coordination. In addition to the day-to-day tasks of leading the agency's new business pipeline, the Business Development Director will maintain a holistic awareness of ongoing projects, new service offerings, partners and growth strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver the BBMG story (our unique value proposition and capabilities)
- Understand and communicate agency's service offering and industry expertise through proposals, presentations, phone calls and case study development
- Proactively identify, qualify and cultivate new business opportunities, including providing exceptional client service to prospective clients from initial call through client onboarding
- Respond to incoming inquiries and requests for proposals
- Develop, coordinate and participate in new business presentations
- Manage Salesforce.com database, opportunity pipeline and lead cultivation, including holistic overview of all outstanding communications and prospect relationships
- Onboard clients into project management software, brief client teams, lead internal planning meetings and ensure smooth transition between contract and project kickoff
- Manage and lead weekly new business meeting with agency leadership team
- Plan for and coordinate weekly business development strategy meeting with agency Principal to identify upcoming leads and craft appropriate outreach hooks
- Support agency senior staff through coordination of business development schedules, follow-up and materials development
- Steer agency's thought leadership and editorial content, including research projects, expert blogs and social media strategy, including coordinating with agency's PR consultant
- Identify, pitch and coordinate conference, workshops, expert panels and other events
- Develop and manage business development calendar, strategic partnerships and budget
- Solicit proposals, vet and subcontract with outside vendors for qualitative and quantitative research, video production, web development and other ancillary services that may be relevant to BBMG proposals
- Coordinate with operations team through financial forecasting, capacity planning and weekly financial reports
- Support internal projects and ventures, including BBMG's online consumer collaboration platform, The Collective
- Manage and enhance new business tools and templates
- Research and monitor industry trends and standards
Qualifications:
- A passion for making the world a better place
- BS/BA in communications, marketing, PR, advertising, or equivalent communications experience, masters in business or communications preferred
- 4-6+ years full-time relevant experience (advertising/marketing/PR/ innovation/ sustainability)
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Excellent organization skills and sharp attention to detail
- Proven ability to meet deadlines, juggle multiple projects and work independently in a fast-paced office
- Expertise in using the Mac platform (Keynote, Pages, Numbers), MS Office software (Word, Excel) and Internet research tools. Technology background a plus.
Business Development Director, full-time employee position based on a 40-hour work week.
